In the autumn of 2007 Randall will return to New York City Opera to cover the role of Ottone in Handel’s Agrippina and in the spring of 2008 he will sing his first Prince Orlovsky in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. In 2007-08 Randall will also be performing a staged version of Peter Maxwell Davies’ modern masterpiece Eight Songs for a Mad King and he will revisit the role of Fileno in a staging of Handel’s Clori, Tirsi, e Fileno, both with ensemble FusionChamber.
In 2006 Randall made his European operatic debut at the world renowned Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy singing the role of Teseo in the modern day premiere of the newly reconstructed Vivaldi opera Ercole sul Termodonte with the ensemble il Complesso Barocco conducted by Alan Curtis (now available on DVD). During the 2005 / 2006 season Randall was seen in the role of Nireno in Handel’s Giulio Cesare for Opera Colorado, he performed as a guest artist with the Juilliard Opera Center singing Oberon in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Lincoln Center, he was invited to sing as countertenor soloist in the world premiere of Paul Schoenfield’s Channah with the Juilliard Focus Festival!, and he sang the role of Athamas in Handel’s Semele. Previous engagements include a performance of Oberon (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) while a Young Artist at Opera North in New Hampshire (2004) as well as a staged performance of Handel’s extended trio cantata Clori, Tirsi, e Fileno at the Meadows Museum in Dallas, Texas (2003).
Randall made his New York concert debut performing with the Orchestra of Saint Luke’s in the third act of Judas Maccabeus (Handel) on the Prism Concerts Series. His interest in all types of music ranging from Renaissance song to compositions by living composers took him to England’s prestigious Britten-Pears Programme in the summer of 2005 to perform contemporary concert and recital repertoire. In addition, Randall has been the guest of such ensembles as the Northern Colorado Consort, The Indianapolis Arts Chorale, and Quito Barroco in Quito, Ecuador and his concert repertoire includes: Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, The Chichester Psalms and Missa Brevis of Bernstein, Olim Lacus in Orff’s Carmina Burana, and works by J.S. Bach and many others.
In competition, he has placed as a Regional Finalist and award winner in the Rocky Mountain Region of the 2005 and 2006 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and he was the 1st place District Winner of the Colorado / Wyoming Region (MONCA) in 2006. |
